Glossary of Thyroid Terms and Abbreviations

 

TFT's = Thyroid Function Tests

 

T4 = Thyroxine

 
FT4  = Free Thyroxine  (active, not bound to proteins in the blood)  

T3 = Tri-iodothronine

 
FT3 = Free Triiodothyronine   (active, not bound to proteins in the blood)  

T3 (RAI) = T3 by radioimmunosassay

 

TSH = Thyroid Stimulating Hormone

 

TRH = Thyroid Releasing Hormone

 

TGB = Thyroglobulin

 
TGAB = Thyroglobulin antibody  

TAB = Thyroid Antibody

 

Anti-M TAB = Antimicrosomal Thyroid Antibody

 

TSI = Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin

 

US Thyroid = Ultrasound of Thyroid , or Thyroid US

 

RAI Uptake = Radioactive Iodine Uptake

 

RAI = Radioactive Iodine

 
ATD = Anti-Thyroid Drug
